If a milling tool is composed from several simpler subtools, then for
more complex tools, the composition of the tool from its different
subtools (cutters etc.) is a non-trivial task.
For the composition there must be mainly two aspects recognized and
solved:
The cutters of each single subtool must not collide with the
neighbouring subtools. In case they do there must be holes
constructed in the respective neighbouring subtools such that the
collision is avoided thereby. The shape and the size of each hole
depends on the other components of the tool.
The cutters of any two neighbouring tools must be displaced
relative to each other by a certain rotation angle. The size of the
angle again depends on the different components.
The invention of a suitable representation of the cutters and holes,
and the development and implementation of a software system for the
automated generation of the complete data for the holes for the
cutters and for the displacement angles is the task of this
project. The other data of the milling tools can be regarded as
prespecified.
