The Treatment of Strabismus
- To cure strabismus, the doctor first has to infer from the
experimentally measured gaze pattern the hidden geometry of the eye and its
muscles.
- Then the doctor has to design a surgery which changes the geometry of the
muscles in such a way that the resulting gaze pattern matches the intended
pattern.
Without further assistance, the quality of the solution of
these problems depends much on intuition and prior experience; several
surgeries may be necessary to yield a satisfying result.
