The workshop theme lies in the intersection of Gröbner bases, resultants and linear algebra. The topics of the lectures will range from comprehensible introductions to recent research results and ideas. Beginners in this area will have the chance to dive into the linear algebra approach to Gröbner bases and resultants, while advanced students and researchers will have the chance to learn about new insights into the connections of Gröbner bases, resultants and related matrix methods. This workshop is initiated and organized by Maximilian Jaroschek, Angelos Mantzaflaris, Hamid Rahkooy and Zafeirakis Zafeirakopoulos, PhD students and postdocs of RISC, DK and RICAM. The workshop has received great support from Prof. Bruno Buchberger. This workshop is a satellite workshop of the Special Semester on Applications of Algebra and Number Theory at RICAM .

There will be sessions of contributed talks. You are welcome to send an abstract of your talk to mjarosch (-AT-) risc.jku.at.
Some afternoon sessions will be devoted to the discussion of open problems. You are welcome to send suggested problems to rahkooy (-AT-) risc.jku.at (and prepare a poster about the problem you suggest).
Send your name and affiliation by email to rahkooy (-AT-) risc.jku.at. There will be no registration fee. Please let us know your arrival/departure time to/from Linz/Hagenberg, either in your registration email or at your earliest convenience.

The workshop is organized at the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation (RISC), which is an institute of the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. RISC is located in the Castle of Hagenberg, a romantic, medieval castle amidst the lovely, hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel, 20 km north east of Linz, the provincial capital of Upper Austria, located halfway between Salzburg and Vienna. More information about RISC can be found on the institute's web page and also in the RISC folder.
Travel information, maps, and transport schedule from the RISC portal.
Hotel Sommerhaus in Hagenberg, 5 minutes walking distance from the conference venue, offers good quality rooms for 36 Euro per person per night in a single room and for 65 Euro for a double room. Breakfast is included. The hotel provides free Internet access and free parking places.
