Summer School 2019

Overview

Within the framework of the SFB "Algorithmic and Enumerative Combinatorics", the summer school AEC 2019 will be held at the Research Institute for Symbolic Computation (Johannes Kepler University Linz) in Hagenberg. It is jointly organized with the algebra group of the Johannes Kepler University, the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics, and the combinatorics groups at the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Technology.

In the spirit of the AEC2014, AEC2015, AEC2016 and AEC2018, the goal of this summer school is to put forward the interplay between the fields of Enumerative Combinatorics, Analytic Combinatorics, and Algorithmics. This is a very active research area, which, aside from the three fields fueling each other mutually, receives as well constant impetus from outside, by its interaction with algebra, probability, statistical physics, and computer science.

The summer school will feature three series of lectures, given by

Each series of lectures will present a recent exciting trend in these three research fields.

Aside from the three lecture series (5 hours each), there is time for a limited number of contributed talks (20 minutes each).

Related conference

In the week before AEC 2019 there will be the 15th International Symposium on Orthogonal Polynomials, Special Functions and Applications (OPSFA'15) (July 22 – July 26). It provides a forum for mathematicians, physicists, and computational scientists to communicate recent research results in the areas of orthogonal polynomials and special functions. All AEC participants are cordially invited to stay a few days longer and attend this event as well.
